My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 7/14/13: Virginia is available for adoption!

Virginia ("Ginny" for short) is a fantastic 8 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound-mix looking for a 'forever home'

Ginny is calm and submissive.. a typical, lazy hound dog. She likes to roll around in the grass, go for walks and curl up to sleep in her dog bed when it is nap time.

Ginny does well with the dogs in her foster home. She has not shown any interest in playing with them, but she enjoys their company. Ginny likes to play with stuffed toys that squeak, enjoys a good belly rub and likes to chew bones -- flavored ones are her favorite. And when Ginny wants you to pay attention to her, she paws at you and flashes her soulful hound eyes!

Ginny is not terribly vocal even though she is a hound. But if she hears someone come to the door or sees someone walking by, she will let you know with a good howl. Most of the time she's quiet.

Ginny is housetrained too, using the doggie door in her foster home to go outside in the fenced back yard to potty.

Ginny is looking for a quieter home without any children. Her ideal owners would take her for walks and car rides. She would like it if she wasn't left home all day by herself, meaning either people are home quite often or there is another dog at home to keep her company while her people are out. Ginny is also very afraid of thunder and her adoptive family would need to be willing to work with her on those fears.

Interested in meeting and possibly adopting this dog? Fill-out an online adoption application via www.sadiemaefoundation.org. $300 adoption donation, reference check and home visit are required prior to adoption.

While in the care of the Sadie Mae Foundation, all animals are fully vaccinated, heart worm tested and spayed or neutered. Other medical treatments may be provided to our animals, depending upon their specific needs.

In addition, this animal has been microchipped for identification purposes through HomeAgain's® Chip FurKeeps program. Adopters are required to pay the additional one-time,$10.99 microchip registration fee (which lasts the lifetime of the animal) upon adoption.

Info. about Sadie Mae Foundation's adoption process Please note that we do not ship animals or do same-day adoptions. Additionally, we ordinarily limit adoptions to homes within CT or no more than an hour or so drive from Hartford, CT in order to be able to conduct a home visit and provide follow-up assistance when necessary. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.

We try to make our adoption process as easy and painless as possible, but please understand where we are coming from and all of the work that goes into rescuing and rehoming homeless animals. We don't want them to go through this again. Visit www.sadiemaefoundation.org to learn about the adoption process in detail.
