Lucky's Story...
Lucky is an 8 yr old Purebred Male. GRFR originally thought he was closer to 10 but his eye specialist says he's actually closer to 8...yahoo...don't we all wish we could lose a couple of years that easily. Lucky is a sweet, gentle, calm boy found as a stray. He quickly adapted to his foster home and Golden-brother and is great with kids and adults. (His relationship with cats is unknown.) Lucky's does have some health issues. He's blind, but it bothers him little. He learned his way around his foster's house in just two days--his nose and ears work just fine! He is being treated for heartworm and it's anticipated he will make a full recovery. He also has some arthritis in his knees which is to be expected at his age. Lucky has a few other age related issues but nothing monumental. All that said, he is wonderful to have around, loves being petted, has good house manners and eats like a champ. He's got such a strong will to live--can you imagine what it took for this blind love to find food in the wilds of rural Kansas!

Heartworm is a curable and preventable disease. Lucky will be treated for his heartworm slowly so as not to compromise his health. Lucky also has cataracts in both eyes. In spite of these issues Lucky is the sweetest, most handsome golden you'll likely ever meet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucky, a Denver Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Denver, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Denver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Denver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Denver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Denver paves the way for another one to be saved.
