WARNING: THIS DOG HAS A BITE HISTORY!
Energizer Bunny! It is a challenge to capture photos or video of Angus because he is always in motion.
Angus is a very active two-year-old French bulldog who, sadly, has been bounced around for most of his short life. He was first surrendered by his owners in Texas almost a year ago when he did not get along with the female French Bulldog in the house. Two different trainers - in addition to medication - did nothing to help with the aggression, and his owners were forced to relinquish him to the French Bulldog Rescue Network in order to restore peace to the household.
His foster parent in FBRN was a man who did well working with Angus, and Angus got along fine with the two male pugs that were regular visitors to the home. After about four months in foster care, he was adopted by a couple who had two senior male pugs and a young female pug mix. During his four-month stay in this home, he was a busy boy, managing to attack all the resident dogs, two dogs outside the home and to bite both owners a number of times. These owners did their best for Angus and even brought in a trainer. It seems that the trainer and Angus were not a good match, and Angus continued his downhill course.
On a positive note Angus bonded more with the man of the house and finally was able to play most of the time with the young female pug mix. Unfortunately, the woman of the house was afraid of Angus and chose to stay out of his way.
Because of his behavior problems, this couple was no longer able to keep Angus, and his previous foster dad could not take him back. There was no one else in the rescue willing to take this dog on, so his adoptive owners turned to the French Bulldog Last Chance Rescue. It was indeed his last chance.

Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
Age: 2 years old
Weight: 20 lbs.
Health Concerns: Angus has mild allergies; he sometimes needs a Benadryl after being outside because of itchy paws and a runny nose.
Does Angus like kids? Because Angus has a bite history, he will not be placed in a home with children.
Does Angus like cats? No.
Does Angus like other dogs? Angus has a fear response to dogs when he first meets them, but with a slow and positive introduction, a dog his size would help keep this boy busy.
Personality and Activity Level: Angus is still very much a puppy. He loves to run and play in the yard. This is a French Bulldog that loves to play fetch. Angus has the biggest smile you will ever see when you are playing with him. Angus also enjoys the company of another dog, and this helps him get rid of some of his energy. He loves daily walks. After a day’s play, Angus will find a spot on your lap to curl up while you read or watch TV. He also loves to curl up in the bean bag chair and chew on his Nylabone.
What are the dog's favorite toys or things to do? Nylabones, Kong filled with honey or peanut butter, lying on the couch with his family after play.
Crate trained? yes
Has Angus had any training? Yes he knows basic commands, is excellent on a leash. He is very treat driven.
Does Angus have any temperament issues? See below.
Bite history: In his first home there is one report of a bite at the vet’s office while he was being bathed. Then he began to act out by in his new home once he was adopted. In his current foster home Angus has not bitten.
Triggers for aggression: Angus loves to meet people but does not trust an unfamiliar person to pick him up, so this can trigger fear aggression. He loves to be petted by anyone. Unfamiliar dogs scare him. With slow introduction Angus plays and interacts well with other dogs.
Necessary precautions: Angus responds well to food rewards, and rewarding him for good behavior will help to develop a strong relationship. He needs firm boundaries so he knows where he stands and sees you as his leader. When he knows where he stands, this keeps his fear in check. He should be introduced to other dogs slowly.

When our dogs come into rescue, they bring the baggage of their previous lives with them. Please read his bio carefully before you decide Angus is the right dog for you.
After having Angus in her home for just a few days, his foster mom believes that his aggressive behaviors are caused by fear. She says that he was ready to tear her dogs “into bits and pieces” at first, but with time and working with him, they became buddies. Angus has fear aggression to touch and also to being picked up. He is very food driven and is responding well to training with treats.
Angus has come a long way in a short time in his new foster home. She is certain that he will make someone a loving boy one day soon. He seems to like men more than women and loves to nap beside his foster dad.
Angus needs a patient and experienced owner to keep him feeling safe, someone who is loving but will set firm boundaries. He would love someone with the time to play in the yard and take walks with him. Angus will reward his new owners with lots of kisses and a big smile for the time spent playing with him.
Angus would love a fenced yard to play in. Another dog his size to share that yard would be a big plus. Angus will do fine in a crate when his owners are at work, but they need to be ready to give him love and play with him when they come home. He will cover them with kisses from head to toe when he greets them. Angus enjoys spending time with his family and needs a family that has time to play with him and to cuddle him.
