My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sid (short for Sidney) - best guess: flat coated retriever, or mix resulting in same appearance - Male/neutered - young/ 1 to 2 years of age - 56 pounds - black medium to long coat with feathering

Sid's eyes shine with happiness; his gaze is direct, honest and as open as the sky.

A beautiful dog, whom we have guessed to be either a flat coated retriever or a cross between a Golden and a Lab, Sid is as loving and gentle a fellow as you'll ever find. Patient, trusting, and filled with good will and hope, Sid has a big heart and a seeking nature. He attaches to people and to situations with complete and utter devotion. He will bond deeply with his adopter(s).

Physically very beautiful, Sid has a soft, feathery coat and warm, brown eyes. He came to us with a very serious injury to his rear left leg, which he suffered without a murmur of complaint. Thanks to some very kind and generous benefactors, we have been able to have this problem (his femur had been completely dislocated from his hip, and rested on his pelvis) corrected by orthopedic surgery. Thanks to Sid's wonderful nature, a talented surgeon, and nurturing post-op care, Sid is now 100%. And, to watch him caper and stream across a lawn without pain is a beautiful sight.

As one might expect, Sid's generous nature and friendly outlook extend to all creatures - great and small. His primary allegiance is still to his humans; if there is a bit of wistfulness or neediness in Sid, it would seem to be his awareness that he is not quite yet home.

Sid's manners are excellent - he walks well on lead, rides nobly in the car, and is impeccably housetrained. He is responsive and eager by nature, and learns new skills easily. He is a very tactile dog, a trait that extends to his love of being touched and hugged; it is evident as well in his puppy-like delight with toys. These, and his foster mom and family, are cherished by Sid.

Sid will bring the best qualities of love, loyalty and faith to his adoptive home.
