Luna Lee's Info...

I am already spayed, up to date with shots, and not good with cats.

Luna Lee's Story...
I came to AWLMC from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. I was given up by a loving family because they lost their home and were moving into a homeless shelter themselves. I am a lovely and petite dilute calico. I wear a soft grey coat accented with a bit of apricot and I have the most adorable eyebrows -- which accent my stunning green eyes. I’m an easy-going and quiet girl who enjoys playtime, chasing little furry mice or just about anything attached to a wand. I like to be near my human(s), whether sitting in your lap or next to you, or curled up with you for a good night’s sleep. Please don’t pick me up, as I prefer to keep four on the floor. Are you looking for a calm, independent little kitty to love? I love my quiet time - crawling into my cocoon bed or climbing to the top of a cat tree. I dream of a peaceful forever home in which I am your one and only feline, as I prefer not to share you with others. A sunny window perch for bird and critter watching would seal the deal. Could your home and your love be the purrrfect fit? Please come visit me at the AWLMC to see. I was born in 2010.

About Animal Welfare League-Montgomery County

About Our Shelter...

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats. We hope to be able to add a dog program soon.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.

Our Adoption Process...

All members of the adopter's household should be present at the adoption.

For all adopters who rent their home, we must see a copy of the adopter's lease or rental agreement showing that pets are allowed.

Current adoption fees: $125 for adults (cats over 1 year old) and kittens.
All of our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered. We currently accept only check or cash, although we hope to be able to accept credit cards in the future.

Potential adopters are required to fill out an application and to be interviewed by an AWLMC adoption counselor.

We can request home visits or vet checks prior to approving anyone for adoption.

Upon approval, the adopter must sign an adoption contract.

Adopters must have proof of ID (a driver's license or other government issued identification).

We will follow up on our adoptions which can include e-mails, phone calls, home visits, and vet checks.

These rules are subject to change.
