Montana's Story...
Meet Montana. She's an 1.5 year old (10/2013) american bulldog/staffordshire terrier mix and ready for a forever home. She is very affectionate and well behaved. Her mother was rescued while pregnant, so Montana was born and has lived with her rescuer since birth. Montana needs an experienced dog handler who can patiently work with her. She absolutely craves human affection, has a lot of energy, and has been known to climb fences! Once indoors she is happy to curl up next to you on the couch, for movie time. No cats, other dogs, or children, please. Montana is up-to-date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. She needs to be the only dog in the home. If you, or someone you know, are interested in Montana, please contact Nadia at njubran@marthaturner.com Thanks!

About Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project

About Our Rescue Group...

We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project November of 2011 to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 300 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our website is forgottendogs.org and we are a 501c3.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fees are $150 for puppies up to 2 years old (plus an additional $75 deposit on those that are too young for spay/neuter), $125 for adult dogs ages 2-5, and $100 on adult dogs 6 years and older. We have an online application and a contract and all dogs/puppies are either spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough or arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.
