My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVAILABLE TO RESCUE ONLY!!

Why Choose me?
Grace is a precious girl with a sad story. An Athens family reported that they had seen her around their home for about a month, and she would growl at them from time to time. Animal Control offers set a humane trap to catch her, and what they found in this trap was a very frightened, sweet dog who had delivered puppies so recently she was still expelling the afterbirth. Far from growling at them, she wagged her tail in relief as they took her out of the trap. The officers walked all over the woods with her, hoping she would lead them to her puppies, but they finally had to give up after nightfall. When she got to the Animal Control shelter, Grace make no complaint during a quick physical check and swallowed a syringe full of yucky-tasting worming medicine obediently. She was still very frightened though, so the Animal Control officer let her lie underneath the desk in the office while she worked. Whenever she got up, Grace followed her like a shadow – still shaking, but obviously craving human contact. These pictures were taken the next day, and as you can see, Grace is still quite frightened, but just as sweet and docile as the night before. She has already bonded strongly with the Animal Control officer, so clearly this is a girl who knows how to love! We wish these pictures gave you a better sense of how pretty she is, with her red coat, light eyes, and adorable little underbite. Hopefully in another day or two she’ll feel more relaxed and we’ll be able to show you that she’s just as beautiful on the outside as she is in on the inside.

Grace needs a rescue because it is still too soon after her having puppies to be spayed. She needs to wait about 2 more weeks until that can happen but she isn't guaranteed any amount of time now because she is an owner surrender.

Please refer to a dog's ID # when calling animal control about a dog.
Time is of the essence as these dogs are at a high-kill shelter.
