Ruby's Story...
Ruby is a female pit bull found seriously neglected and starving in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area on August 21. She was so hungry, she was eating road kill! She could possibly be displaced from the deadly April 27 tornadoes.

Ruby is a gentle soul who gladly accepted food and assistance from a rescuer. Even throughout her previous neglect and suspected abuse, she remains very people friendly! Ruby is up to date on her vaccines, spayed, chipped and has completed heart worm treatment.

She is in an amazing foster home where she has blossomed! :) Ruby is a sweetheart who loves to play and snuggle. She is selectively dog reactive. She is perfectly fine with certain dogs. She adores the 2 male dogs in her foster home. They can run and play for hours on end! She is not a big fan of kitties.

Ruby is blind in one eye and has a bum paw. Neither "handicap" slows her down a bit. She has NO mobility problems and does great with just the one eye. Who doesn't love a permanent wink?? :) Her injuries are possibly damage she received in the tornadoes. Ruby must be an inside only pet!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ruby, a Birmingham American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Birmingham, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Birmingham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Birmingham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Birmingham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Birmingham paves the way for another one to be saved.
