Mark's Story...
MARK
I am a young male long haired Chiuaua-Papillion mix who about a year old. I was found on the streets of Miami and taken to a High Kill Shelter by Animal Control to wait my fate. I was one of the lucky ones and made it out alive when a Rescue in New York saved my life said they would find me my forever home! I’m real excited about this!
I would love to be in a home that I can call my own, and Rescue thinks I would be fine with another small dog, but not big ones! They scare me! I’m not so sure about cats either! I love to run and play, walk very well on a lead, and really loved to be held and cuddled! I will make someone very happy and proud!
I’m active and enjoy playing with my toys. I’m working on my potty training, and I’m doing well, but you do have to keep after me a little bit. I don’t mind my crate, and feel pretty comfortable as long as I have a cozy blanket or bed to lay on.
I am UTD on all shots and have been neutered. I am on Heart Worm and Flea and Tick preventative. I also have a microchip.
I am really looking for love and a home where I will be loved liked never before!

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
Orange County Barker's Rescue is a small non-profit organization made up of a group of volunteer dog lovers who primarily Rescue dogs from very High Kill Shelters in the southern part of the US. Once rescued our dogs are completely vetted and all medical needs are taken care of. They are spay/neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, are tested and treated for heart worm and all parasites. They are given heart worm and flea and tick preventative and are microchipped. They stay in a local foster until transported to us in New York. Once with us, we then get to know the dog and work with the individual needs of each dog. We teach them socialization, with both people and other dogs. We start them on basic training, as well as potty training. We keep our Rescue dogs with us until we feel they are really ready to leave and go on to their new life in their forever homes. We work very hard for our dogs, and love them as if they were our own.

Our Mission Is Simple

Rescue - Rehabilitate - Re-home

We don't discriminate against age, health or breed. We are a non-breed specific Rescue. We Rescue the small and the large, the sick and the aged. We love them all and they are all worthy of a second chance in life.

"We don't know the past chapters of their lives, they are lost and forgotten. From the time we take a dog into Rescue, we vow, that every chapter, until their final one, will only be happy ones." LHKane / Founder -OCBarker's Rescue

Come Meet Our Pets...
Adoption Events will be posted. We do have a small facility and you can make an appointment to come and meet some of our furry friends after an Adoption Application has been approved. Email adopt@orangecountybarkers.com for an Addoption Application or call (845) 597-4043.

By adopting one of our dogs it gives us the opportunity to save another life!! Please think ADOPT, and don't SHOP!!

Our Adoption Process...
If you see a dog that you think might be a great match for you and your family, we first require that an Application for Adoption be filled out. We do check Vet references as well as personal ones. After you become an approved adopter you will receive either an email or a call from us to let you know. We do require a Home Visit. If you're not local to us, we work closely with other Rescue Groups and trusted volunteers who can do the home visit for us. There is no exception to the rule. Every one must have a home visit done before we place one of our dogs. We have a binding contract that must be signed. Our contract states that in the event you no longer can keep a dog or cat that has been adopted, for whatever the reason, they come back to us. Our contract also states that you are adopting a dog/cat and will keep them as an inside pet, will vet your dog/cat once a year, provide them with a good balanced diet and fresh water.......

All of our pets have been spay/neutered (unless they are too young) are UTD on all vaccinations, are on Heart Worm and Flea and Tick preventative and are microchipped. They are ready for adoption and have a clean bill of heath unless there is an issue with a special needs animal, and in that case you will know everything there is to know about them.

Our fees vary and range from $200 - $350

We are always busy, so please be patient. We WILL answer a call or an Email. Email seems to work better for us, so keep that in mind.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We are a small Rescue Org, located at the foothills of the Hudson Valley, in Orange County, NY. We have many dogs who are transported to their forever homes in the North East (by one of our transporters) and have placed dogs in homes as far as the Mid West. We do require a home visit by a reputable Rescue Org. in the event that a potential adopter is too far away from us to do it ourselves. We work closely with other Rescue Groups, so please don't let distance put you off if you really feel one of our dogs might be a great match for you and your family.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mark, a New Windsor Chihuahua/Papillon dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Papillon for sale in New Windsor, or seeking a Chihuahua/Papillon dog from a breeder in New Windsor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New Windsor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New Windsor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Papillon breeders who help with Chihuahua/Papillon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New Windsor paves the way for another one to be saved.
