My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Nevaeh was turned over to us when her owner died. Nevaeh, which is heaven spelled backwards, is exactly that. She is a snuggler extrordinare. She loves to cuddle up with her person and especially at night she will snuggle down under the covers and keep you warm all night. When Nevaeh came to us we found two masses on her which we knew needed medical attention. The most notable was on her front leg near the elbow, and the other was on her side. On exam both were found to be Mast Cell tumors which is quite common in Bostons. The biggest problem was that the mass on her leg was so large that it left no room to remove it and be able to close the would adequately without major grafting. And so we went to a specialist who did a transaxial flap in which the skin around her armpit and neck was taken along with an artery and vein and rotated 180 degrees to close the wound on her leg. It was very successful, along with the removal of the mass on her side and she is starting to grow her soft downy hair back in to cover the area. She will need close attention with weekly inspection of her new owner to make sure no new growths appear, but the grade of the tumors was low and so no other treatment was needed.
Nevaeh's biggest issue at this point is that she also had a severe Esophogeal stricture causing her to vomit most of the food she ate. She had two dilations to the stricture and is now able to eat with joy and has gained 2 pounds. She will always require a diet which is basically canned food mixed with chicken broth and mashed down to an oatmeal type consistency which she eats with great gusto. Nevaeh loves to chew on a reindeer antler and is just starting to learn what toys are about. She now comes running to the sound of a squeeky stuffed toy and loves to play. She is an excellent car rider and walks well on a leash but is learning not to be reactive to other dogs when she sees them. She will likely be best as an only pet. She is totally housetrained and has cornered and chased away multiple mice out of our backyard. She loves to lay in the sun and just be in the same room with you. She is crate trained and very well behaved.
