My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Newton is an adorable Catahoula mix puppy born in mid-October 2012. This sweetie has a short and smooth blue merle coat with a little white on his chest and tips of his toes.

Newton is currently living in a foster home with Katey A. and his brothers Nyle and Naldo. He is being called “Greg” in his foster home and knows his name. He is socializing with other people and other animals. He gets along great with the two large resident dogs and tries to play with the resident cats. Newton is crate trained and he is working on house-training. Newton and his brothers share a crate when their foster parents are not home and sleep in their crate at night. At night they go in their crate quietly and are let out to go potty once during the night. He is a smart boy and is learning basic commands. The resident dogs are helping him learn good doggy behaviors too. He is an energetic, curious, and playful pup. He loves playing with all the doggy toys and wrestling with his brothers. He is becoming quite the retriever and loves chasing down tennis balls and bringing them back to his foster parents. Newton loves running around outside and running under the trees and bushes. He sure loves to play, but also loves cuddling and taking lots of naps!

Newton is a ball of energy and will need regular exercise/playtime. He would be a great addition to a family that will include him in their activities! Newton loves playing outside and exploring every chance he gets. He would prefer a home with a good-sized, fenced yard to keep him safe. Newton is sure to bring fun, excitement, and love to your life! If he sounds like a good match, please ask about him today!

****His adoption fee is $325.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues—and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
