Butternut's Story...
As HAHS now has several adoption locations, please contact Gaye at 913.661.0294 so you can find out when and where you can meet BUTTERNUT!

Butternut is a handsome 1½ year old longhair tabby boy who is so handsome! He was found in a business park's parking lot and came up to a Good Samaritan who didn't have the heart to leave him out in the cold. Butternut loves to bat balls with bells and especially likes for someone to throw them so he can chase them. He likes to follow you around so that he can get attention and get petted. Butternut is friendly and affectionate but seems to show a low threshold for stimulation so would probably do best in a quiet home. Some of this may be due to uncertainty and insecurity of how he was found.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Butternut, a Overland Park Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Overland Park, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Overland Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Overland Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Overland Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Overland Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
