My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jericho is a 1-year old, 11 lb., very sweet, handsome, clear red neutered male dachshund and up to date on his shots. He was relinquished to Dachshund Rescue by his owner who just didn't have enough time to give Jericho the attention he deserved. Jericho's previous owner hated to give him up, but he knew it would be best if he found a new, forever home and family where he could get more love and attention.

When Jericho came to his foster home, he was happy to meet the four Dachshunds living there. Jericho displayed excellent doggie-manners and was immediately accepted by all the Dachshunds. Soon Jericho was playing happily with his new pack-mates. He likes squeaky toys a lot. When his foster Mom took Jericho to have his rabies shot, he sat quietly while a barky Corgi was creating a big disturbance.

Jericho is not food-aggressive and eats peacefully with all the other dogs, and has a very soft mouth when taking treats from your hand. He is house-trained, and there have been no accidents in his foster home. Jericho is a very loving and friendly boy, and settles into your lap for snuggles at every opportunity. At 1 year old, he is really still a puppy. Jericho is also crate trained and sleeps quietly all night in his crate.

Jericho can be very enthusiastic when greeting people. He will pee if given too much attention upon greetings. In his foster home he has been getting intensive training and socialization to build his confidence. He is now ready to find his new forever home. Jericho needs a dachshund-experienced home where his people are home most of the time and will give him the rules, boundaries and limitations he needs to continue to build his confidence. Jericho’s excited urination is more of an issue if he has been left alone for a long period of time. He loves going for walks with his foster buddies. Also, having a well behaved, calm, confident dog in his new home would also be helpful.
