Murphy's Story...
"Hi there everyone...if you are looking for a really wonderful and very friendly Long-Haired Chihuahua-mix fellow, then look no further than my kennel. My name is MURPHY and I'm just 2 years old, and I am as cute as a bug...even cuter! I'm the perfect size, too, to be a great house or apartment dog. I love going for walks, love to cuddle and snuggle, and I have a terrific smile! I get along great with other dogs, and I'd make a wonderful family pet. I am in need of a new forever home that has a small yard so that I could enjoy myself and get some exercise, and I'd love one of those warm and snuggly dog beds of my very own in the house, so that I could always be close to my person or my family. The shelter staff isn't sure if I'm house trained, so they're still watching me to be sure. I love getting brushed and love sitting on laps. I'm a very happy fellow with a wonderful personality, and who knows...I just might be that wonderful little dog that you have always wanted and dreamed about. Won't you help me make my dreams come true for a new forever home with you? We can get to know one another in one of our great exercise yards they have for us here at the shelter. About Our Shelter...
We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.

We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.

We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.

We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
