below bio is what shelter volunteer had to say about Millie
Millie is around 4 maybe younger and about 45 pounds
This girl is sweet and mellow, and was just happy to see me and get outside when I went to visit her today. She waited patiently at the door while I leashed her, and we started on our way out through the kennels. At one point I needed to stop and grab something, which put us in between two large dogs barking and lunging at us. This good girl just sat down and looked up at me as if to say "could we get out of here?", until I was ready to move on. Pretty impressive!
This girl does not seem to have been leash trained, and she does pull, but because she's not a youngster anymore, it's nothing too troublesome. We spent some time walking together, and she was mostly interested in checking out the scents of the shelter. Inside out office, I sat down and called to this sweetie, and she hurried over, head low and tail wagging. She has a great smile and I got to see a lot of it while she was enjoying some back scratches! She was just as friendly and relaxed with the other new people she met in the office too. She did seem a little focused on the door and going outside, possibly because outdoors was so interesting... but she could be distracted and would refocus on me with a little encouragement.
During her temperament test, this girl was very friendly with the testers and enjoyed being petted. She struggled a bit when her teeth were examined, and did not like having her tail handled, but was tolerant of all other handling, even the hug. When tested with tasty treats, this girl tensed, then growled at the assess-a-hand even before she reached for the treat. So she could use some help learning to relax around valued possessions. I should mention that the testers made a note that she was focused on the exit gate to the eval yard and spent a lot of time sitting near the gate, as if she wanted to leave. Maybe she's feeling the need to find her way home!
She just needs a soft, warm bed and someone to snuggle with and love, and I think she'll be in seventh heaven.
