Jasper's Story...
This little guy is as sweet as they come! We pulled him from the shelter with his brothers and sisters where, due to overcrowding and the fact that black cats do not get adopted as easily as other colors, they were going to be euthanized right away. Please consider adopting a black kitten or cat and help to reverse this silly trend! "Jasper" is neutered, microchipped, FeLV negative, dewormed and has received his first 2 FVRCP kitten vaccines. He is smaller than his littermates because he was he had an upper respiratory infection that made him feel icky and not want to eat. He feels great now and is making up for lost time, playing and eating with gusto! You can contact his foster parent, Beth, directly at bakissack@ucdavis.edu for more information or to arrange to meet him.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jasper, a Davis Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Davis, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Davis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Davis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Davis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Davis paves the way for another one to be saved.
