Lucy's Story...
Everybody LOVES Lucy!!! Lucy is an older Labrador who came in to a high kill shelter in Louisiana as a stray. No owner came to claim her during her mandatory 7 day stray hold and Lucy soon found herself in danger of euthanasia. Her age/breed/size made her chances of adoption at the crowded public pound slim to none. Thanks to the PAWS of NE LA "Pops Fund" that helps older dogs at this shelter, Lucy was instead rescued and is loving life in foster care! Lucy is now looking for a forever home through the help of Bonnie Blue Rescue. She is approximately 65# and 9 years old. She is housetrained, crate trained (but trustworthy inside uncrated), good with other dogs, cats and kids, walks nicely on leash and likes to go for car rides. She is fostered in a busy household with 4 human kids plus other dogs and cats and she fits right in. She loves rolling around in the grass and leaves and has an amazing zest for life! Lucy brings a smile to everyone she meets and is totally confindent with new situations, people and pets. Her foster mom has only good things to say about Lucy and reports that she is "canine perfection". Lucy has TONS of life left to live and just needs someone to appreciate the amazing dog that she is! She is spayed, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Lucy did test positive for heartworm but is breezing through a 3 month treatment and will be done, heartworm free and ready to transport HOME in April. Here is sweet Lucy in action at the vet the day she was rescued from the shelter: http://youtu.be/5SztoTY8o3Q. She even loves going to the vet as you can see from her video! Don't miss out on this gem of a dog just because of her age!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Richmond Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
