Ruff Ruff! My name is Rhino
|Size:||Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)||Sex:||Male||ID#:||Richmond, VA|
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Rhino is an older Labrador who was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Louisiana by an owner who could no longer care for him. Rhino's age and the fact that he was a dark colored, male, large breed dog at a crowded public pound made his adoption chances slim to none. Just a few days after being surrendered, Rhino found himself on the euthanasia list. Thanks to the PAWS of NE LA "Pops Fund" that helps older dogs at this shelter, Rhino was instead rescued and is a super star in foster care! Rhino is now looking for a forever home through the help of Bonnie Blue Rescue. He is approximately 65# and 8 years old. He is housetrained, crate trained (but trustworthy inside uncrated), good with other dogs and kids, walks nicely on leash and likes to go for car rides. He LOVES his tennis balls and likes to carry them around the house and play fetch. He is totally confindent in new situations and enjoys meeting new people and pets. His foster mom has only good things to say about Rhino and tells us that whoever adopts this dog is getting a total gem!! Rhino has TONS of life left to live and just needs someone to appreciate the amazing dog that he is! He is neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Rhino did test positive for heartworm but is breezing through a 3 month treatment and will be done, heartworm free and ready to transport HOME in late February. Here is Rhino in action at the vet the day he was rescued from the shelter:

Rescue Group Info...
Bonnie Blue's main goal is to save unwanted and "left behind" dogs from kill shelters and place them into loving, forever homes. "Owner surrenders" are also accepted at Bonnie Blue, where we will rehabilitate and rehome many different breeds. Once a dog comes into our rescue, he or she will stay with us until we can find the perfect family. We screen our adopters thoroughly to ensure they have only the best intentions in adopting a new member to their family.
Bonnie Blue also networks with other rescues and shelters to help save even more animals from a cruel fate.
Our adoption fee is $300 unless otherwise noted. $75 of this adoption fee will be refunded if proof of enrollment in obedience class is shown to the rescue within 30 days of adoption. We HIGHLY encourage our adopters to go ahead and sign their new pups up for obedience classes.
Our adoption process begins with a returned adoption application. Once turned back in, it generally takes 48-72 hours for us to thoroughly check the applications. If approved, we will contact you to schedule a home visit and (if a local adoption) will try to arrange it so that we can bring the pup that you are interested in adopting with us. Provided the home visit goes well, you are considered for adoption.
Please note that our adoptions are not "first come, first served". We are diligent about making sure that we find the right family for each of our foster pups. Just because you are approved to adopt does not mean that the pup that you initially applied to adopt is the best fit for your family. We will work with you to make sure that you find the perfect forever pet.
