Toby's Story...
Why Hello there! My name is Toby! I am not your usual Rat Terrier, I am a wicked smart 4 year old 35 pound Decker Standard Rat Terrier. Never heard of a Decker Standard Rat Terrier? I am a Standard Rat Terrier from the Decker line. We do not show up in rescue very often! Here is more information on the Decker temperament
I like to go on walks, but to be honest I am not much of a runner or hiker. I like to play with others dogs, but they have to understand my play style which involves a lot of talking! While I do need some physical exercise, it is my mind that need regular exercising! I love figuring out new puzzle toys! I also love learning new tricks, and I enjoy doing nose work, (like when my foster mom hides something yummy in a bunch of boxes and I have to find it!) I LOVE food! I will do what ever you want, usually ;) if you have food. My prey drive is pretty high, Deckers are excellent hunters, so I would do best in a home without cats. I like all people, but once I get to know you I am extremely loyal. I do really well with children and an very respectful of them. Are you looking for a wicked smart and fiercely loyal dog as your new best friend? Because I might just be your man! I am neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and have current blood work. My adoption fee is $200. Please visit if you would like to meet me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Toby, a Ft. Collins Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier for sale in Ft. Collins, or seeking a Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Ft. Collins.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ft. Collins already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ft. Collins breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier breeders who help with Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ft. Collins paves the way for another one to be saved.
