Here is what his foster mom had to say:
Scooter just may be the cutest dog that has ever lived. He is also the happiest dog that has ever lived and perhaps the friendliest.
Scooter loves to go outside and explore his world, come back in to play, and go back outside again. He loves his toys and will play happily with a soccer ball all by himself. He is so gentle, loving, sweet and easy to deal with. He takes correction happily and learns quite quickly. He does not like to be reprimanded so tries to please his human. His glass is always full and the world is always great. There is no dog with a name more fitting than Scooter – he doesn’t walk anywhere but rather trots.
Scooter is bold, brave and very self assured. He should also have an agent and be in the movies – he is so full of personality and good cheer. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and he is fantastic with other dogs. He tries to play with all of them but is the first to back off if he oversteps his boundaries. The cat doesn’t like his energy but he is not aggressive with her at all. If he could go to a dog park or run with a human every day, he would be a happy and contented boy.
This little dynamo is a very active and playful friend. Like to go running? Scooter is your little man. Have active kids in need of a playmate? Scooter would like to volunteer. Have a puppy that needs a willing playmate? This is your guy. Just when you think he will never stop running and playing, he crashes for hours and just hangs around with the other dogs and sleeps.
He loves nothing more than a belly rub or having his soft ears stroked. Scooter is housetrained and he will scratch at the door to let you know he has to go. Scooter has had very little training so an obedience class would help him learn rules and boundaries. He is very food motivated which, combined with his obvious intelligence, makes him a willing student. He pulls on the leash and could probably benefit from a gentle leader, but he is a hound so much of that nose to the ground pulling is his breed. He needs to be watched to ensure he is playing with his toys and not something he shouldn’t have.
Scooter is not completely trustworthy so we crate him when he is left alone, but he is absolutely fine in there and settles down very nicely without a peep. Scooter is very happy to spend time in his crate. He sometimes goes in his crate to relax so it is always left open when we are home.
I wondered aloud the other day about who might want such an active little dog and my husband responded “I would, I absolutely love him.” My neighbor said the same thing. He has a lot of fans around here, mostly because he is completely adorable. Dogs just don’t come much cuter and sweeter than this guy and if he can burn off his excess energy he will be a complete delight. His energy level had diminished by at least half by day five here so he really does pick up on the energy level of his environment. He is an endearing little gem and would be a happy addition to almost any home.
If you think your family would be a good choice for Scooter, please submit an application for consideration.
