My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sheba is an extremely friendly, playful young girl. She is still very much a puppy at just 7 - 8 months of age and currently weighs 30 lbs. Sheba knows some basic commands and is learning new skills all the time. She would do well in just about any active family and is good with other dogs and respectful children of all ages.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Sheba is a real love. She is still very puppyish but is very good about knowing to play with only her toys. She does know her name and responds to it very well. We have been teaching her basic commands and she now knows, "sit", "come" and "off". She is very intelligent and is quickly picking up on new commands every day. Sheba is still recovering from her spay but overall is in wonderful health. She is just about house trained but hasn't learned how to indicate so you have to let her out whenever she stands near the door. As she is still a puppy she does need to be let out a little more frequently. She loves to play fetch, be pet, and generally just be part of the action.

She is crate trained and remains in her crate throughout the day while we are at work without a peep however, she doesn't like staying in it when we are at home. We do leave it open when we are there and she will often go in for a nap. She is very good in her crate and has never messed in it overnight or throughout the day while we are away.

She did not at all seem to be used to walking on a leash, but we have taken her out on three walks a day to remedy this. She doesn’t mind the leash at all, but definitely pulls in order to smell things and attempt to chase squirrels. With further training she will be great. She picks up on things very quickly so obedience classes or someone that can continue working with her would be great for her to really help her become a wonderful companion. She is excellent riding in the car. She mainly sits still and looks out the window rather than trying to climb into the passenger’s seat.

She is not an aggressive dog at all however, we have not exposed her to children, as she is very strong and is still prone to jumping up on people. She is also still mouthing (as she’s a puppy), so she still requires some training before being 100% kid-friendly. She immediately warms up to everyone who walks in the door, usually licking them and sitting at their feet (if she’s not jumping up on them). We are working on this.

Sheba needs a family that will commit to continuing her training with patience, consistency and affection. She is extremely loving and friendly with everyone. Her tail never stops wagging (even when you’re mad at her), and her ice blue eyes will melt anyone’s heart. We hope she is adopted by a family who will make sure she gets time to run around off-leash and older children would be best, as she doesn’t yet realize how strong she is and often bumps into people/objects unintentionally. Overall, she’s a total sweetheart who will fall in love with her new family the minute she sets eyes on them. She’ll be very loyal and a wonderful family pet!

If you think Sheba would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
