My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Amos is a one year old mixed breed dog - we think possibly border collie/terrier mix or maybe some boxer in there too, who weighs about 50lbs. He and his sister were rescued from a southern shelter as young pups and they are having some difficulties getting along. She has an overwhelming personality and it is making Amos into a nervous guy. His family feels he would be more confident in a different situation. He has not had a lot of experience with children and would likely best in an adult-only home who has experience with dogs. We don't know about cats but he seems to have a prey drive that would make them an unlikely combination. Amos is selective about his dog friends and can get anxious around other dogs, especially when he is on leash. He is not suited for dog parks or large gatherings of dogs.

Amos is actively working on training in a BAT program (Behavior Adjustment Training) which has helped him and his family a lot.

A new foster family or owner would need to continue this forward progress with him. He's very smart and eager to please. Amos is housetrained and will let you know a potty breakj is needed by walking back and forth in front of the door or sitting in front of you and waiting for you to get the hint. He is comfortable with a crate or dog bed. Amos does not love car rides; in his early life he enjoyed meeting new people but his sister's behavior has caused them to be less socialized lately and could benefit from more opportunities in controlled settings.

Amos would benefit from a rural setting or quiet neighborhood and more opportunities to run and stretch those handsome long legs of his. If you are a dog-experienced family who is willing to take a chance on helping this boy to live a long and happy life please let us know!

Amos' current trainer tells us he is sweet, goofy and wiggly and that he would benefit from continued work to make him a more confident dog.

To apply to adopt this dog, please visit our web site to access our application and learn more about adoption through Lucky Pup, www.luckypuprescue.org.

Please note: We do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
