My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JOHNNY is a 2 year old black male who weighs 57 pounds (could gain a few). He is a sweet boy who is keeping his run spotless and is respectful of bedding. He is a good rider and is easy on leash. He is good with other dogs and has been fine with the shelter kitty and the vet kitties. Approved for kids aged 7 and up.

Update from foster home (8/26): Johnny is still doing great! He has great house manners, no need for a crate and he still follows you from room to room. Johnny puts his paws on the window sill and watches when you drive away for work every morning - it is so sweet! Johnny really loves going for his walks and enjoys the company of every other foster dog that comes to the house. Johnny is especially fond of playing and tries so hard to get my older dogs to play but they only play with him for a little while so it is imperative that Johnny has a large yard to run around in and he gets his walks. He recently decided to try to get some bees to play with him - they didnt want to play and now he has some bald spots where he got stung - but he will be just fine. Johnny loves to sleep in the bed but isnt a bed hog, he curls into a nice little ball by your feet. He knows our routine and is really a great guy to have in the house, he always lets you know when someone is at the door even before they ring the bell! Johnny has grown exceptionally fond of our family, especially me - the lady of the house. We have quite a bond and he loves to sit on the couch and watch TV with me! I always tell Johnny someday the right family will come along but until then we will continue to take good care of him!

Update from foster home (7/31): Johnny has great house manners, he comes when called, he loves to run around outside with his foster's other dogs and children and he always runs over to the fence so the neighbor kids can scratch his head. Johnny loves to sit on the couch and sleep in the bed and he isn’t a bed hog!

Update from foster home (7/15): Johnny “Hot Pants” loves to run around in the backyard. Playing outside is his favorite thing to do so a fenced yard is a must – he is no couch potato! Johnny happily greets the neighbor’s kids when they come over to the fence. He puts his paws on the top rail so he can enjoy getting his head scratched. Johnny really enjoys having a canine play buddy. Like most Labs, when Johnny is inside he follows me from room to room and if I close a door he is always outside of it waiting for me. Johnny is house and crate trained, and we leave the crate door open for him when he wants to go inside and lay down. He is free to roam the house even when we are not home. He will play with his toys but has never chewed anything other than his toys. Johnny loves to sit on the couch and sleep in the bed. Johnny is a sweet guy who just needs a minute to warm up to you!

Jun 7, 2013: Johnny has become so sweet and snuggly. Even though he still likes to race around the yard, he has calmed down a ton inside. His favorite new activity it to lay on the patio and watch for the school bus so he can watch all the kids run around. He loves to play but loves snuggling the best!

Jun 4, 2013: Johnny has really settled into our home. He knows our routine and knows when it is time for potty, dinner, sleep and treats! He will sit right beside the treat cabinet until you get him one! He loves to run around the yard (that's why we call him "Hot Pants") and will need a family with a yard that is fenced in so he can continue to run and smell the fresh air - he just loves to run in the yard!! "Johnny" or "Hot Pants" will come inside when called and he loves to get a good back rubbing and to sit beside you on the couch! He loves the companionship of my dogs and respects his place in the pack. Johnny needs a family that can love his quirks and appreciate his energetic spirit. He may not be a picture perfect Lab but Johnny is always happy and he would love to have a home where he can be happy forever!
