My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jacob is an adorable little guy. Released from a breeder, he is adjusting very well to his new life as a pet. Jacob is sweet and affectionate--he will come and put his front paws on your leg when you are sitting to get some pets and attention. He gets along well with other dogs, and will need a fur companion in his adoptive home. Jacob is also busy mastering new skills, including stairs, crate training, and house training. He will make some lucky adopter a great companion.

Jacob weighs 10 pounds, is salt and pepper in color, and 7 years young and active. He has cropped ears, and a docked tail. Jacob is being fostered by Maria and her family in Ashtabula Ohio Area. Not all our dogs are totally house trained at the time of adoption. We crate train them or potty pad train and work on potty skills. When your application is approved, you will speak with the foster Mom and can get more information about how far along the foster dog is in potty and social skills. Dogs learn quickly and most are pretty far along or trained by the time of adoption, however you should always expect some adjustment when moving a dog to a new home.

His adoption fee is $295. (toy) Our vet package includes a spay or neuter; dental exam with cleaning and extractions if deemed necessary by the vet (Jacob had 21 extractions); rabies vaccination with tag, and DHPP vaccination; clear heartworm test; clear fecal test, and preventive deworming. Any illness found during the vet exam is treated. We give you a written record from our vet of these and any other procedures performed to provide to your own vet. In season, our rescued dogs are on flea/tick and heartworm preventives.

Please note: Some of our dogs need a fenced in yard, and this is specified where required. If you do not have a fenced in yard, we require that you purchase an exercise pen so the dog can be safe when outside. These are available online for less than $60, and you must bring proof of purchase to your adoption appointment. Most of our dogs are small, and cannot be tied out. You will receive a lifetime prepaid microchip registration, and a 60-day limited trial for pet insurance from a third party.

In addition, we provide our foster family’s notes on your dog’s routine, including food, schedule, and social skills. An adoption packet will be given to you at your adoption appointment, and includes other suggestions that will help you and your dog establish your new relationship,. We also have a Facebook page for our adopters, and we have a volunteer who can answer questions on training your new pet.

We are not a shelter—our dogs are cared for in foster homes by our volunteers. We do not ship or transport our dogs. You must drive to the foster home to meet your dog. An adoption appointment is scheduled after you complete an online application, and are approved for adoption We only adopt to adjoining states and or within an 8 hour drive of our foster homs.

Please visit our website www.ronsrescuedrascals.org to learn more about our adoption procedures and policies, submit an adoption application, meet our volunteers, and learn how you can benefit from the 9+ years of rescue experience of our all-volunteer, non-profit rescue.
