MEET MAX. Beautiful mahogany neutered male dachshund, 4.5 years old, and full of vim, vigor and vitality. He will take you for your daily walk. He is a sweet guy and easy to get along with for humans and dogs and cats. He has unusual eyes: one blue eye and one eye that is brown with a little bit of blue in it. He is well behaved except for when guests arrive (he barks). That could be worked on a bit, but he responds to the squirt bottle well. And really, he is a doxie and they have a good bark! This is a wonderful dog whose family's move necessitates a new home.
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $350, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
