Spence's Info...

Spence's Story...
Spence is a very sweet dog with lots of young dog energy which needs an outlet. Consequently, he would make a great running or hiking partner. Spence is also an amazing ball handler-- he moves the ball around with his paws and nose like a pro. Very cute! Spence did quite well on his temperament test: he doesn't have any handling or aggression issues, and has responded passively when challenged. Basically, he's a young, enthusiastic dog who needs some training. He might even work in a home with a cat if the proper guidance were given. Spence is also people-oriented and loves to get pets and praise. In return for kindnesses large and small, Spence will give you a great big hug around the waist, and only reluctantly will he let go and continue on a walk. Spence also seems to get along well with other dogs, and has cavorted joyfully in the play area with well-matched females. The shelter environment is starting to get to this sensitive boy, so he could really use a forever-home right now, with all the warmth and peacefulness that the phrase implies. When one finally comes along, we have no doubt that Spence will show his gratitude for a long, long time.

Act quickly to adopt Spence. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spence, a Berkeley Labrador Retriever/Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Pointer for sale in Berkeley, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Pointer dog from a breeder in Berkeley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Berkeley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Berkeley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Pointer breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Berkeley paves the way for another one to be saved.
