Kumba's Story...
Why Choose me?
Kumba arrived as an owner surrender at the shelter during our volunteer visit so she still looks very frightened and shut down in these pictures. We’ll have happier ones soon! Though confused and apprehensive, Kumba cooperated with Animal Control staff as she prepared for her stay in the shelter. While exploring the interaction pen, she remained markedly low-energy, but responded readily to petting. When other dogs – especially puppies – came into her vicinity, Kumba considered them curiously with a wagging tail and friendly demeanor. Although walking on a leash isn’t one of Kumba’s strengths, she appears to be potty trained. She may still be unsure of her surroundings, but Kumba is comfortable with kisses and eager to explore!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kumba, a Athens Labrador Retriever/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Athens, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
