Blossom is a sweet adult Dane who wants nothing but love. Her family can no longer keep her. She's been aggressive with smaller dogs, but gets along fine with our other big guys.
Suggested donation for Blossom: $600. Blossom has been spayed and has had her stomach tacked, and is up-to-date with routine shots. Please see the description of medical services provided below.

Rescue Group Info...
We are a non-profit volunteer-run no-kill rescue. Scott Rood, Director and Head Poop Scooper, has been rescuing and rehabilitating Great Danes for over 35 years. Although the majority of our dogs come to us as a result of divorce, relocation and recently, foreclosure, we accept and rehabilitate danes that no other shelter would touch. Many of those abused danes remain at the shelter where they receive the structure they require to live out long healthy lives. Our dogs live together in a pack as nature intended, able to move in and out of doors as they please, socialized to the other dogs and able to exercise at will.
Showings and adoptions are by appointment. Please call Scott Rood at 815-814-4130
Fees vary based on the age and desireability of the Dane. We try to cover our medical costs with the adoption fee. As part of our preparation for placement, each Dane receives a Laparoscopic Assisted Gastropexy (also known as a stomach tack), a proven preventative of gastric torsion or bloat. Each Dane additionally receives a spay or neuter, rabies vaccination, bordetella vaccination, heartworm testing, microchip, dental exam, dental cleaning, ear cleaning and nail trimming. We generally ask a $600-800 donation with some exceptions. Great homes with limited financial resources may qualify for a payment plan.
