Susie's Story...
"Hi there all of you nice people! I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am SUSIE, and I am a six-year-old Bichon Frise little dog who is down-right friendly and adorable! My owner became ill and could no longer take care of me, so I am here at the El Cajon Animal Shelter. I came to the shelter with my brother, Charlie, so maybe you'd like to adopt us at the same time. That way we'd have built-in buddies! I'll just get right to the point and share with you that I am a very special little dog with a wonderful personality who loves to play and be around people. I am cuter than cute, and that is the truth! I love going for walks, and I enjoy the company of other dogs. I just know in my heart that there is a special person or a special family out there who will love me and provide me with a new "FUR"EVER home! I'd make an excellent family pet, and I'm house trained, too. I'd love to have a small yard where I could enjoy myself and get some exercise, and also I'd love to have a nice and comfy dog bed of my very own in the house so I could always be close to my person or family. My personality is delightfully sweet, and I am extremely loving and cuddly. I am a lot of fun, and I have a great smile, too. A trip to the shelter wouldn't be complete until you've had an opportunity to meet me, so just ask one of our kind Shelter Staff to introduce you to the very cute and very special little Bichon whose name is SUSIE, and we just might discover that we are meant to be best friends forever. About Our Shelter...
We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.

We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.

We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.

We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
