Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Sylus!
Sy is a 1 year old Husky mix. He came from Good News Bay, surviving on his own with help from the community all summer and through the fall. Right now he is very people oriented, and wants to be with people as much as possible. He shows his attachment by 'hugging' with his front legs, and by mouthing hands and clothing in greeting and sometimes to be playful. However, he isn't a chewer, but could be if he became bored. He has been house trained, but will need reinforcing in a new situation.
Sy gets along with most dogs, but might be intimidating with dogs that are submissive or smaller than he is for toys. He is not food aggressive. He loves riding in the car, and is very interested in watching the view. On walks he has been in a harness, and only pulls a little. For this reason he might not be a good skijoring prospect unless running with another dog. He likes balls and rawhide chews. He is great with kids too! He "adopted" the elementary school in Goodnews Bay and has shown no signs of aggression toward kids since his arrival in Anchorage. He is very well socialized and pretty laid back. He was able to be transported from the airplane to the vet's office where he got a clean bill of health and straight into a new foster home all with a very laid back attitude. He has a wonderful smile that just warms your heart!
Sy probably will do better with an owner who is with him most of the time or has another dog that he can keep company with during the day, As with all huskies, he will need exercising daily. He gives the first few dogs at the dog park low growls, but he then seems to understand that he is not being threatened and stops being worried and mostly doesn't growl any more. His personality is to be happy, and go along with whatever.
To schedule a meeting with Sy or for more information on him, please call his foster mom: Pixie 346-3329
