Dolly's Story...
Dolly:
Moderately Active, Good With Other Animals, Good With Children
Greeting, my name is Dolly! I am a 9 year old 45 pound female Catahoula mix. I landed in rescue when my family dumped me in a Houston, TX shelter. I was on death row and about to be euthanized when ASPTL sprung me. Even with my sad past, I am just happy to be alive! I don’t let anything get me down and I look at everything as an adventure. I have not met a person or other animal I was not happy to meet, I never get cross. Being an older girl, I do have a bit of arthritis on one of my knees. But I do not like letting this slow me down! My dream adopters would take me on daily walks and weekly trips to the dog park. I am spayed, have current blood work, I am current on vaccinations, and micro chipped. My adoption fee is $100. Please visit www.softplacetoland.org to fill out our online application.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
A Soft Place To Land, Inc. was founded in 2010 by two dog lovers and best friends. We are a small foster home-based rescue, so we do not have a shelter facility. As former breeders of English Springer Spaniels, we realized there were too many dogs out there without homes - why breed more dogs?! So we decided to rescue retired breeders so they would not be euthanized. Our hope is that eventually, through awareness of the plight of puppy mill dogs, more people will choose to adopt a pet instead of purchasing a pet through a pet store - making puppy mills a thing of the past!
Donate to Our Rescue Group...
We have a "donate" button on our web site. We also have a wish list on Amazon.com. We always need cleaning items, old bedding, old towels, dog beds, gas cards, and just about anything else you can think of!

Our Adoption Process...
www.softplacetoland.org.
Step 1: Fill out an adoption application.
Step 2: Someone from A Soft Place To Land will contact you to set up a home visit and interview. After the home visit applicants and the rescue can take up to 24 hours to decide if the dog is the right fit.
Step 3: When approved, sign adoption contract and pay adoption fees.

Adoption fees are roughly as follows:
Dogs under 6 months of age - $350
Dog from 6 months to 8 years - $225 - $300
Dogs over 8 years - $100 - $225

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We prefer to adopt in the state of Colorado as our resources are limited and generally we are not able to perform home visits further away than 6 hours. The dogs we rescue are primarily retired commercial breeding dogs and we like to make sure the dog will be comfortable in your home before we complete the adoption. If the adopter lives further away, it is difficult to know how the dogs will react to the new environment. If there is a problem, we require that the dog be returned to the rescue to re-home and the distance to transport could be an issue. However, if you are willing to come meet the dog and are willing to send us pictures of your home, we will consider it. (In state applicants would be considered first if multiple applications were received on the same dog.)

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ft. Collins already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ft. Collins breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Catahoula Leopard Dog breeders who help with Catahoula Leopard Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ft. Collins paves the way for another one to be saved.
