My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blink came to us from a loving home and is a big, happy, healthy puppy. He has been to McCanns for obedience training and has learned many skills. He is very intelligent and eager to please but still has a lot of puppy energy. He is a beautiful, friendly and loyal boy that would do best with an active family and older children that would enjoy playing with him. He would be great with another dog in the home. He is just over a year old and weighs approximately 60 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Blink is still very much a puppy at heart. He is extremely affectionate and loves to share kisses and cuddles. He enjoys being an oversized lap dog and is quick to turn onto his back for belly rubs. Blink came from a home with young children however, being a pup at such a young age, he still does not realize his size and strength and would be best with older children.

Blink doesn’t shy away from anyone. He is a pup that is constantly happy, wagging his tail with a huge smile on his face. He is very eager to please. Blinks’ foster family has noticed that he is an extremely quick learner. He can “sit”, “lay down”, “shake a paw”, and has even learned to get out of the kitchen when people are eating or cooking (“out”). Blink loves to walk on a leash and is great with a little bit of positive reinforcement and training. He loves going to the dog park to chase other dogs around and to entice them to chase him. Blink, however, never gets too far. He comes back when called and is quick to stay by your side when off leash. But, like all dogs, he will need some obedience training with his new forever family.

Blink, being the energetic, fun-loving, people pleaser that he is, would thrive in agility, dock diving or even disk dogs. He has great potential to be a champion with his eagerness to learn and athletic physique.

Blink has been spending his time with a foster family that has a dog and two cats. As mentioned before, loves playing with other dogs and being around them. After a play session, Blink is the gentle soul and gives kisses to his foster sister on the face. He has shown curiosity with the cats. He approaches them in a friendly manner and does not bark or growl. His tail is always wagging!

Blink is quiet in the house. He does not bark at people or cars passing by, nor does he bark at people coming to the dog. Blink has not shown any signs of anxiety when left alone. Because he is such a young pup and full of energy, he is secluded to a room where he lays quietly until you return. Blink is not crate trained but he does not fear going into the crate or sleeping in the crate for a period of time.

Blinks’ favourite thing to do is play tug with his tug toy. He picks it up, brings it to you, then the tug is on. What’s great about playing tug with Blink is that he releases the toy on command so that you can throw it. He is quick to retrieve it and bring it back to you so that tug game is back on. Blink being the young pup that he is has a high energy level. An active family would suit him best.

Blink not only has his basic commands down but he is also house trained. He enjoys car rides and sticking his head out the window. He gets a great view from the back seat window and is intrigued by everything that we pass by. Blink has kitchen manners by staying out the kitchen when meals are cooked or people are eating. He doesn’t beg for food and is only food motivated when learning new tricks. He has never tried to escape from the backyard or through the front door, but when we get to the dog park he gets really excited and can’t wait to get out of the car.

Overall, Blink is a wonderful dog! He is so attentive and such a quick learner that he will excel in everything you teach him. Blink would do best in an active family with older children as he himself is a very active boy and needs to be physically and mentally simulated. Blinks’ forever home must love a dog that is a gentle and affectionate.

Blink is a one of a kind dog and an amazing pup for the right family.
