My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Candie, but The Comeback Kid is what it should be! I am a very pretty, really nice 6 year old, red n white cocker girl. I came to this rescue from a NC shelter after they learned that I was heartworm positive and needed treatment to get well. I had my heartworm treatment done and I was doing well. Then my world turned upside down and I had complications hit me that severely threatened my life, so I had some awfully tough days. I was put on several medicines and I even had to have oxygen breathing treatments twice a day, which I hated.

These nice rescue folks fought hard to keep me alive and I wanted to live. It took awhile, but now my life survival issues are in the past........I am a lot healthier, energetic, happy and eager to find my new forever home. I want someone to adopt me and love me for the special girl that I am.
I am a little love bug, heartworm negative, pretty well house trained, I love toys and I am very dog social. I am a good girl, very active and I have never shown any aggression towards anyone. I adore squeaky toys, I keep a clean crate and I need and appreciate love and attention. I've had a rough life since my heartworm treatment was done.....but I beat the odds and now I want a great home, someone to care about me and just take care of my needs as necessary. I am still on some medicine and a special food diet that I must have to live the rest of my life. I no longer have a heart murmur or seizures and the vet is very pleased with my progress.......says my healing process has truly been a miracle.

I would love to be your new baby girl, a best friend and a wonderful companion to share your life. I cannot be adopted to anyone living in an apartment or condo as I have a rather loud bark and I might disturb the neighbors. Please give me my 2nd chance.......I am a real sweetheart!
It was time for me to have a heart echo test done, so they took me and the test showed that I have permanent scars on my heart from damage. But, the good news......the cardiologist said that I can be taken off one of my blood pressure drugs and in two months I can then be weaned off my other heart drug too. I do still have some lung bronchitis too, but I'm not on any meds for this issue. With all of this said........I just need to find a loving home that will take care of me and my needs so that I can just have a good rest of my life!

Candie needs monthly sponsors to help with her costs until she is adopted. Please donate to her care today! Charlotte Cocker Rescue, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please email: larrydonnacarp@aol.com for an adoption application. Our adoption fee is $300 which includes all the vetting and medical needs for the dog.
