Peter's Story...
Why Choose me?
Peter is here as a ‘cruelty case’. His owners moved out of their rental and left Peter behind, chained in the yard with no food, water or shelter. No one knew he was there until the landlord found him, a barely breathing pile of bones. If it hadn’t rained, he’d have died of dehydration. Peter actually looks much better now than he did when he first arrived – he was so weak he couldn’t walk and had to be rushed to the vet twice to be brought back from the brink. Peter is out of the woods now, on a special recovery diet and ready to be adopted or rescued. As you can see from his videos, Peter is all wags and kisses despite his abandonment. He happily trotted into the interaction pen with us and trades wags and kisses for pets and treats. A couple of months of high quality food and lovin’ Peter will be a satiny, sleek beauty. He’s getting lots of practice stealing hearts here at Animal Control, so be warned when you come visit him! We’ll be adding a couple of videos of Peter shortly.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Peter, a Athens Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever for sale in Athens, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
