Tawnie's Story...
Why Choose me?
Tawnie has been here since January 17th, but she is just now available for adoption. Before, she was too scared to be made available. When I used to walk by her gate, she’d run to the back of her kennel. Now, Tawnie is at the gate greeting me, and she was even ready to go for a walk today. The first time she greeted me, I actually had to do a double take and check her ledger number because I wasn’t sure this was the same dog. I was so proud of her. I had taken a few pictures of Tawnie yesterday, but today was the first day she could have fun running around in an interaction pen. It was wonderful to watch her enjoy herself. She wasn’t ready to play with toys, but she did come to me whenever I called her, and she loved being petted and getting treats. One of the officers of Animal Control had been working with Tawnie and had given her a bath. I think that was her breakthrough moment because it was like she was saying, “I’m ready to come out and meet people now!” I don’t think Tawnie has had the best life. She had been chained to a tree without food or water. There’s an injury on the back of her neck, but it doesn’t seem to bother her. I feel like Tawnie really needs a friend and needs to be loved. She’s come so far and deserves a chance for a better life. I look forward to spending more time with Tawnie, but I hope she is adopted or rescued soon. She’s already out of time. Come meet this sweet girl. Maybe you can give her the chance she needs to find out how good life can be.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tawnie, a Athens Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Athens, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
