Harold's Story...
Why Choose me?
Harold was my favorite dog at the pound today, and that’s saying a lot! The staff thinks he’s a fairly young dog, but he seems like an ‘old soul’ to me – he radiates a gentle calm that is just beautiful. He’s not in the greatest shape – he’s skinny and bony, his fur is a bit dry and dull (some good quality food will take care of all that) and he had some kind of mishap that split his lip in front, but it looks pretty superficial. Harold loved being with us in the interaction pen and in one picture you can see that while a volunteer was scratching his chest she found his ‘sweet spot’ – it was so cute to watch him melt Harold’s ‘old soul’ is a great comfort to Maude, the German Shepherd he was found with. Maude is very frightened at the pound, but just being near Harold make her feel much better. Unfortunately, they can’t stay in the same kennel since Harold isn’t neutered and we don’t know if Maude is spayed, but we will try and get them together to visit as often as we can.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harold, a Athens Hound (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Athens, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
