Facts about Martha

  • Breed: Bull Terrier
  • Color: Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White)
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Martha is a Bull Terrier. For those of you old enough to remember Spuds McKenzie in the Budweiser beer commercials, Martha is that breed.

We estimate she's about 4 years old. We don't know her story; Martha
was running the busy streets when one of our volunteers happened to
be driving by. We're guessing life in her past was not a good one.
From the old scars on her face, it appears she's been attacked
and apparently traumatized by at least one canine.

When she first came to stay with us, there was a sadness about her, but
Martha never seemed to be watching for anyone as she sat in her
kennel run. It was as if she'd resigned herself to her fate.

Whatever neglect or harshness Martha may have suffered, she holds
no grudges against humans. She loves people, loves to cuddle and
hangout, and loves being brushed. She's a very sweet, good little
girl.

But Martha is not good with other dogs and was never properly socialized
with cats, so she must go to a home where people are happy to have
her as their only pet companion.
Martha has been with us for awhile now, and we know she longs to
have a home of her own with people to love and who will love her back
and give her the happy life she deserves.

The adoption process involves an application and a donation fee to cover the costs of spay/neutering. A reference from the family vet is helpful. Each family and dog is unique and we strive to find the "perfect" match.
