About Our Rescue Group...
My name is Janet Noe Walsdorf and my husband Jimmy and I have owned and operated Alamo Heights Kennel Club & Salon since 2002. My husband and I are very fortunate to have the ability to also run a rescue for dogs in need. I primarily rescue dogs from the animal control center, but we do get dogs directly from owners in need of a new placement. All of our rescues are judged on temperment and adoptability, not by breed. We ensure that each rescue is current on vaccs, spayed/neutered, groomed, flea/tick preventative is applied, microchipped and heartworm tested. I firmly believe that dogs are our best friends and should be treated with love and respect. Each dog has a different story and we treat them accordingly. Some rescue dogs are at the facility for a week while others have been there for years. We do not ship out to euthanize if they do not get adopted quickly. I figure if I took them on in the first place, they are my responsiblity to care for until a forever home can be found. We only ask for donations for special treatments when required ie, dental, heartworm treatment, sarcoptic mange, surgery above spay/neuter, etc.
Come Meet Our Pets...
All of our rescues are listed on petfinder.com and housed @ Alamo Heights Kennel Club & Salon. You are welcome to come by any day to view and meet them.
Our Adoption Process...
All interested persons are asked to fill out an application for the pet they are interested in adopting. We require them to come to facility a few times to spend quality time with the dog before taking it home. We do allow for home trial periods in order to ensure a proper fit and we accept the return of an adopted pet if the need arises.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Winnie, a san antonio Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in san antonio, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in san antonio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in san antonio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a san antonio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in san antonio paves the way for another one to be saved.
