Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kramer was born Thanksgiving 2012 with a deformity in both front legs. His backyard breeder took him to be euthanized, but thankfully he was saved by a woman who has a small rescue. She contacted Oregon Dachshund Rescue, because she knew she would not have the financial resources to give him top notch care. Oregon Dachshund Rescue agreed to take Kramer and see what could be done for him. Currently when Kramer stands or walks his legs bow out significantly and he has pronounced knuckling at the joints that causes him to just sort of lay down on occasion. He has had many vet visits and has been monitored very closely since February when he came to the rescue. As of his last visit with the specialist, it was determined that he is not a surgical candidate, so we are currently exploring alternative options.
He is a very happy, loving, social guy. He has personality beyond belief and is extremely smart!! Everyone that meets him falls in love!
Due to his current medical needs, Kramer will likely not be available for adoption until the first quarter of 2014. At that time, we will have a better understanding what sort of financial commitment his forever family will be making when they adopt him. Kramer will ALWAYS have special needs, and it is imperative that he receives vet care immediately to address any concerns that arise. He also will likely need daily physical therapy and will most definitely be on a special diet.
Any potential out of state adopters will be required to either fly with him in the cabin of the plane or make the roundtrip drive.
