My name is Bogart. I am about 11 years old. I have a young heart, lots of energy and I’m looking for a special human.
When I came to IG Rescue, I was very insecure in large groups of canines and preferred to be in the company of loving humans. I had lived with very kind older folks who let me do whatever I wanted and never gave me any rules to follow. I found out later that this is not the way most of the world works. Everyone and everyplace I went had rules. So, into training I went.
Sit, lie down, come when called, walk, wait at doors and learn to tolerate – maybe even like – when people pet me and pick me up—I learned lots of fun stuff! I went to live with a human who seemed to understand me. We went for long walks, met many dogs and people, and I liked all those experiences. Then one day, she left and never came back. I was very sad. Back into my training home I went: I felt better because everyone there remembered me and welcomed me back to my home-away-from-home. I had a roommate for a while and he found his forever home, so I know I will find mine. My trainer and foster friend says I’ll find a forever home that’s just right for me.
I play well with others—humans and canines. I would be a good only-dog but would also do well with canine housemates as long as they understood sometimes I like to be alone. I’m pretty good with all my manners, so I just need a human who’ll understand my quirky behavior: I bark when everyone leaves. I can’t control myself sometimes when I think maybe my human will abandon me again, but then I settle down after a few minutes when I remember I’m with a human who will return. I need a human who will love me unconditionally and give me well defined rules because I actually feel better this way instead of getting my own way.
