Our Adoption Process...
All cats and kittens are given full doctor exams. Each individual cat/kitten is tested for the FIV/FeLV viruses. Any and all medical problems that are present are addressed and treated. We start vaccines appropriate to the animal's age; dewormings are also administered.

To start the adoption process, an adoption application form can be requested via e-mail, phone call, or by visiting us at the Maywood Veterinary Clinic. It can take up to a few days to fully process each individual application form. If application accepted, a visit can be scheduled to meet the cat/kitten of choice. Final decisions are made after the visit. The adoption fee is $100.00. This fee covers the spay/neuter of the cat/kitten. If old enough to do so, cat/kitten will be spayed or neutered prior to leaving the clinic. If not of age, kitten can be brought back at a later time to have procedure done.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gherkin, a Maywood Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Maywood, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Maywood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Maywood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Maywood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Maywood paves the way for another one to be saved.
