Meet Sally. She went from being on the streets starving and with mange on New Years Eve to being adoptable today. She has gone from 43 lbs to about 53 and is still growing. She is about a year old and a really super dog. Sally is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and ready to go. She is laid back and content to chill out when on her own and sociable with other dogs when with them. She is totally house trained having never had an accident in the house. Her passion is to look for squirrels and other critters in the back yard. She has a high prey drive and should not be around cats. She loves her walks too. She needs a secure 6 ft wooden fence because she will go over a 4 foot one. She would be a great companion for someone. She is obedient and quiet. If you are interested in adopting her please email her foster mom at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out an application on www.forgottendogs.org. Be sure to specify that it is for Sally. Thanks.
Rescue Group Info...
We rescue in a low income area of Houston called the 5th Ward. We founded Forgotten Dogs of the 5th Ward Project about a year ago to address what we saw as an obvious need to help the many stray dogs we were seeing in there. We set up feeding stations and network and pull as many as we can when a foster home or no-kill rescue group says they can take them in. One of our goals is education and we provide residents with vouchers that cover the complete cost of having their animals altered and vaccinated against rabies. In addition, we provide other vaccinations and worming in the field free of charge. Since November 2011 we have grown in size and have rescued over 250 dogs and a few cats from the area. We are launching a program called Habitat for Hounds through which we will donate doghouses and blankets to residents for their dogs that are kept outside. Our website is forgottendogs.org and we are a 501c3.
We do not have a regular adoption site at this time, but stay tuned to our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/ForgottenDogs5) for our upcoming events!
Our adoption fee ranges from $100 to $150. We have an online application and a contract and all dogs/puppies are either spayed/neutered prior to adoption if old enough or arrangements are made to have them spayed/neutered afterwards.
