RIO's Story...
RIO is a 7 month old hound whippet mix male puppy. He is super sweet, bouncy, loves to play, snuggle, and carry around his favorite squeak toys. He is still on the small side, tall and lanky, only weighing about 30 pounds. He still has time to grow. He is neutered. Up to date on all shots, and ready for his furever home. He originally came to FARR back in August of last year from an animal cruelty case. There were 9 puppies, 2 died from starvation, and these 7 were pulled from animal control. It took FARR almost 3 weeks to put enough weight on them so they didn’t look like little skeletons. We named the 7 pups after the 7 dwarfs. Rio was previously Sneezy. He was returned to us 2/10/13 from his adopters saying he chews too much and digs holes and still has accidents in the house. My first guess, Rio didn’t get the one on one time all puppies need to be successful in this. And, all puppies like to chew and dig. This is something that has to be taught when appropriate and when not. He will need to be crated when not home, and supervised in the yard until he learns when it is ok to dig. These are not reasons for him to fail at finding a forever home that loves him. Would you please consider adopting this sweet boy. He is currently fostered in Palm Harbor. His adoption fee is $25.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

RIO, a Largo Hound (Unknown Type)/Whippet puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Whippet for sale in Largo, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Whippet puppy from a breeder in Largo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Largo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Largo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Whippet breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Whippet rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Largo paves the way for another one to be saved.
