Talking Feather's Story...
Talking Feather is loving and sweet kitten born in August 2012. She is very gentle and curious, and purrs loudly. She likes to be held, and the moment you pick her up she goes soft in your arms and purrs LOUDLY! She’s a bit tentative at first, but is also very curious and loves to investigate new things, and enjoys kitten games. She’s very friendly, and would like her people to play with interactive toys such as dangly things. She’s a gentle little kitten, and needs a gentle kitten buddy to play and snuggle with. She likes chasing balls and stuffed mice.

Talking Feather was lost or abandoned in a bad neighborhood in Washington, DC. She was seen by our volunteer late one cold November night when a little white and black streak raced around a corner and into an alley, following a big male feral cat! This little kitten had followed the feral cat that evening, and he brought her to the food! She wasn’t there the next night when the volunteer had a carrier ready, but we were all lucky because the next night Talking Feather appeared again and was saved! She was so happy to be rescued, and few minutes later when she was in a nice warm kitchen with a bowl of food she purred and purred and purred!

Talking Feather tests negative for FIV/FeLV and has her kitten shots.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Talking Feather, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
