Eve's Story...
My name is Eve and I am a very, very sweet, small sheltie. I surely lived up to my name because on New Year's Eve I became the proud momma of five little puppies. It was not the easiest of births, no one even knew that I was pregnant when I came to the Haven from the puppy mill where I had lived before. What a nice surprise that was but I guess because I hadn't had the best of care for the first part of my pregnancy I didn't have enough calcium for those growing babies and in the late afternoon on New Years Eve I had to go to the vet because the folks here were worried about me. Since it was New Year's Eve, the vet said I needed to go to the emergency vet so that I could be watched through the night. The emergency vet thought my babies might not be alive inside me because they couldn't hear enough heartbeats so I had an emergency C-section to save me and guess what? The excellent doctors and staff were able to save all of my babies too! they worked really hard and even had to start a few of the babies hearts but it was sooo worth it because they are all doing so great and I am such a great mom and enjoying every minute of it. (PS. the folks at Haven at the Inn say that they really appreciate the great job the people at the Veterinary Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove did for us). My little ones will be ready to go home on February 25th and so will I.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Eve, a Antioch Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Antioch, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Antioch.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Antioch already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Antioch breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Antioch paves the way for another one to be saved.
