Sugar's Story...
"Hi there, folks! My name is SUGAR, and I bet you can guess why. It's because I'm so sweet! I'm a terrier mix girl who is about one year old, and I'm looking for a new home. I'm one of those all-around wonderful dogs that you've been looking for. The shelter staff says that I'm loaded with personality. I love to chase after balls in the yard, I enjoy going for walks to explore the world, and I'll curl up close to you when it's time to settle down. I'd make a great pet in a home with older, considerate children, and I'd be an excellent house dog. I love to play with other dogs, too! I already know how to sit on command, so I'm sure I can learn lots of other things, too. The shelter staff is fairly certain that I'm house trained, but they're still watching me to be sure. Please come visit me at the El Cajon Animal Shelter in kennel #33, then ask our helpful staff if we can get better acquainted in our lovely play yard. You'll be happy you did! Love, Sugar"

About Our Shelter...
We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.

We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.

We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.

We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
