My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This poor guy was part of a rescue effort from an Eastern Kentucky Shelter. A very well known group out of Louisville, KY, offered to help 13 dogs to safety. When the transport showed up with 16, the other 3 were refused. A kind family took these dogs in and unfortunately one died. The diagnosis was parasite infestation and the stress of the move and the medication. The family tried to place Cash and Basil but were unable to. They were also unable to keep them any longer. Although we do have to euthanize at this shelter, we try very hard to place every animal. We offered sanctuary for the dogs and really would like to find each of them a forever home.

Cash was very scared when I was trying to take his picture as you can see by his tail between his legs!!! He is not sure what is going on...he has been passed from here to there and back again. I can only imagine what is going through his mind. I'm sure he would make a great family dog if given the chance. He is still a puppy..approximately 6 months - 1 year old. I did a little research on Cathoula's since I don't know a lot about this breed...and they are very energetic and independent. However, they are generally loving and gentle with children. The research did say that they could be dog aggressive and are protective of their family. They would do best with training and if given an outlet for their constant energy. This guy given the right environment could make an AWESOME family pet!
