Daisy's Story...
Why Choose me?
Even with all that she has been through, Daisy is in good spirits. When Daisy was found in front of a restaurant on West Broad, she was covered in blood. It was thought that she had been hit by a car, but, as it turns out, she had been attacked by another dog. This sweet girl is amazing. I know she has to be hurting, but when I approached her in her temporary kennel inside, she stood up to greet me wagging her tail. I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk, and she wagged it some more. Daisy enjoyed being out, and when we got to an interaction pen, I asked her if she’d like a treat, and she immediately sat and waited with a big smile on her face. We wanted to post Daisy’s picture on the website hoping that her owner will see her and reclaim her. If not, she is only available to rescue because she is healing and taking antibiotics. Daisy is a happy girl, and enjoyed being petted and going for a walk. She’s a senior dog recovering from a horrific experience, so we took our time. If Daisy is not reclaimed, I hope a rescue will save her. She’s a special girl with a big heart and a wonderful outlook on life.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daisy, a Athens Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Athens, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Athens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Athens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Athens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Athens paves the way for another one to be saved.
