Why Choose me?
When I first met Roxie, one of the officers of Animal Control was walking her and trying to help feel better about being in a new environment. She’s an owner surrender and was missing her home and family. She’s a scared little dog but let me take a few pictures. Later, when I took her out for another walk, she was still frightened but didn’t mind walking with me. When I first reached to pet her, she pulled back, but as she got to know me, she allowed me to pet her many times. She even let me hold and comfort her. One thing I noticed on our walk was that Roxie always led me to the big exit gate. She’d look at the gate and then up at me. That broke my heart because she knew her home was somewhere beyond that gate. Roxie’s owner could no longer care for her, so she needs a new forever home. She’s already house trained. There was a note stating that she’s not good with kids, so she needs to be adopted by someone without young children. She’s a sweet girl but just needs a little time to get to know you, so it’s best to go slow with her. Roxie is a beautiful dog with a cute underbite. She has a flea allergy, and is missing some hair on her back, but that’s something that easily treated. Come meet Roxie today. I know she’d be much happier in a warm and loving forever home.

Update 2/14: Another volunteer spent some time with Roxie today. We had talked about what a sweet girl she is when you give her a little time. This volunteer sent me a picture of Roxie sitting with her on a bench. She wanted others to see that Roxie will warm up to you and let you pet her–it only took a minute! I was glad to see the picture and read her message. Roxie needs some new friends. I hope she finds a new home soon.
