Maxy's Story...
My name is Maxy and I have had a hard life. Although I am only 3 years old I have been through so many changes. I was in a municipal shelter where I was rescued by another rescue group. Then came Hurricane Sandy and I ended up at Mitchell Field in a temporary shelter for victims of Sandy. No one came to rescue me and my fate was very uncertain as this shelter is closing. One of the volunteers fell in love with me and although she could not adopt me she started looking for a safe place for me. Now I am with For Our Friends and they have promised to find me a wonderful new home. I am a very sweet girl, full of love and kisses and very sweet. I need some training but I am smart and eager to please. Please come and give me a home. I have been too long in a shelter. Please call 516.616.3076 or email fofadopt@nyc.rr.com to set up an appointment.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maxy, a Oakland Gardens American Pit Bull Terrier/American Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier/American Bulldog for sale in Oakland Gardens, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier/American Bulldog dog from a breeder in Oakland Gardens.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland Gardens already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland Gardens breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier/American Bulldog breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier/American Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland Gardens paves the way for another one to be saved.
